I graduated from Massey University in 1994 and have focussed my career on caring for companion animals - both the traditional and more exotic species (birds, rabbits, reptiles, rodents and ferrets). There has even been a spattering of wildlife and zoo animals thrown in the mix.

Attendance at an introduction to animal physiotherapy seminar in the early 2010's opened my eyes to a way of thinking about how the body functions through health, disease, injury and recovery that I wasn't taught at Vet school. What followed was a journey down the path to Certification in Canine Rehabilitation Therapy - a qualification I gained in 2017.  I also hold certificates in Medical Laser safety and Therapeutic laser use through the American Institute of Medical Laser.

Some of the conditions that my physical rehabilitation skills have been useful in treating include:

  • Osteoarthritis and discospondylosis
  • Hip and elbow dysplasia
  • Stifle problems - luxating patella and cranial cruciate ligament rupture
  • Intervertebral disc disease - pre and postoperative care
  • Geriatric vestibular syndrome
  • Degenerative myelopathy

  • Post amputation care

  • Obesity management
